Pixel Advertising Art History
What's the buzz?
Pixel Advertising Art was started by Alex Tew (milliondollarhomepage.com) in summer 2005.
The idea was so simple and so cheap that Alex successfully sold his pixels
(999,000 pixels for $1 per pixel, and a block of 1,000 pixels for $38,100)
on his Million Dollar Homepage in less than 6 months.
See how it all began from this Wall Street Journal article.

To achieve this, Alex hired a successful marketing agent Imal Wagner for $7000 per month (source: web word of mouth).
Imal did all promotions for his website (internet links, radio announcements, tv promotion etc).

The news about the art of pixel advertising spread fast with 100s new pixel selling sites popping out each day.
You can find many of them here . They are also monitored here .
However, if you get this pixel fever - be aware of Piramid Schemes.
It will be interesting to see what happens in the future. The real potential of the idea may still lie ahead for the commercial market.
